Unit 4 Database Design And Development
Assignment Title - Information Systems Design Exercise
Learning Outcome: Use an appropriate design tool to design a relational database system for a substantial problem
Assignment Brief:
Seek out an organisation in need of an information system, or an information system upgrade. Formulate a Problem Definition to define the current problem(s) and any desired additional functionality for the new prototype system.
Apply systems investigation (employing fact-finding techniques) to identify the data held within the system and the information needed to carry out the operational functions of the organisation. Ensure you include document analysis.
Upon identifying the data and informational requirements apply data analysis methods to best structure the data to meet the client's needs.
Use Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs) to track the flow of data through the system.
Use appropriate design methods to formulate a complete logical model(ERD& Normalisation to 3NF)for the new\improved system.
Your design MUST have at least 4 related tables.
Include Storyboards/Wireframes for the design of your input and output.
Include suitable input masks and validation in your Data Dictionary.
Assess the effectiveness of the design in relation to user and system requirements.
Fully document each stage of the analysis and design of the system.
