Task A - Scenario
Organization is a set of department or structure which is set by the management to achieve organizational goaland objective. At present every company wants to expand its business operation to gain more profit as a result they have to set up unique sets of tasks to meet the various requirement of the society.
A company that has been highly successful in a developing country now believes that its products and methods may also prove popular and effective on wider, even global, basis. As a step in this development, it is considering setting up a production facility in Peshawar, Industrial State. If this venture works well, it plans to roll out distribution across the Entire Country i.e. Pakistan.
For this purposeyou will be appointed as the first Area Manager. Before this happens, however, you are asked to prepare a Report on the Business Environment in Pakistan.
The Senior Management of the company will judge how useful your report is, and use it as part of the decision on your promotion.
Select an organization of your choice, analyze the current environmental factors that influence or impact your chosen organization.
In Task A you are required to present a written report of not more than 5000 words by following Harvard style of referencing. You will not be penalized for writing more or less than the word limit.
Assignment activity and guidance
TASK 1
The written report should cover the following parts:
1. Define and explain purposes and different types of business organizations i.e. Public, Private and Voluntary sector and legal structure associated with different types of business. (P1)
2. Explain the size and scope of a range of different types of business organizations. (P2)
3. Analyse how the structure, size and scope of different organisations link to the business objectives and product and services offered by the organisations. (M1)
4. Discuss mission and objectives of your selected organization. Explain the role of marketing, finance, human resource management and operations with context to the selected organization. (P3)
5. Create an organizational chart to explain the interrelationships between different functions. (P3)
6. Explain how these functions are related to the selected organization structure and objectives. (P3)
7. Analyse the interrelationships between organisational functions and the impact that can have upon organisational structure. (M2)
8. Provide critical analysis of the complexities of different organisations and structures. (D1)
9. Carry out macro environment evaluation for your selected organization using PESTLE. (P4)
10. Discuss the impact of external factors such as social technology, cyber space security, emerging economies on your selected organization. (P4)
11. Apply appropriately the PESTLE model to support a detailed analysis of the macro environment in an organisation. (M3)
12. Critically evaluate the impacts that both macro- and micro factors have on business objectives and decision making (D2)
LO4 Determine the internal strengths and weaknesses making. of specific businesses and their interrelationship with external macro factors.
TASK B
Presentation (LO4)
In Task B you are required to attempt the tasks in continuation to Task 1 and also prepare a presentation (10 to 15 slides). The presentation slides for the findings should be submitted with speaker notes as one copy. You are required to make effective use of PowerPoint headings, bullet points and subsections as appropriate. Your research should be referenced using the Harvard referencing system. The recommended word limit is 1000-1500 words, including speaker notes.
The presentation should cover the following parts:
1. Conduct internal and external analysis of specific organizations in order to identify strengths and weaknesses.
2. Discuss the impact of competitive environment and government interventions for your selected organization.
3. Discuss the impact of competitive environment and government intervention on strength and weakness of your selected organization.
4. Apply appropriately SWOT/TOWS analysis and justify how they influence decision making.
