Principles and Practices of International Business

Throughout the semester, this module has focused on institutions and international strategies. In the academic field of international strategy, contemporary IB scholars are paying their primary attention to the following topics (Xu, Hitt, Brock, Pisano, & Huang, 2021).
- market entry and internationalization
- political strategies
- multinational headquarters and subsidiary relationships
- multinational corporate social responsibility
- international human resources management
- multinational technology and innovation
Among the above six topics, choose one topic and provide a research proposal, which consists of an abstract, introduction, literature review, hypotheses development, methodology, and discussion. It is required to use concepts, theories, and methods that you have learned from the module and tutorial sessions.
Assessment questions
- What would be important and new research on your chosen topic?
- How does your research different from other studies in the literature?
- What is your dependent variable or phenomenon of your interest?
- What are your independent and/or moderating/mediating variables?
- What is the theoretical underpinning and rationale for testing hypotheses?
- What are your research methods (e.g., data, measurement) and data-analysis strategy?
Assessment criteria
Relevance, significance, and interestingness of research idea
Depth of literature review (reading relevant research) and differentiation of your research from other studies
The extent to which academic concepts, theories, and methods have been incorporated.
