Assignment tasks:

You have recently been employed in the new IS department as Business Systems Analyst. You have been asked to produce a report on the role and acquisition of IS for BLL for its senior management and line management. In this report you are asked to have a number of sections, listed below:

1) Investigate and make suggestions for a new IT infrastructure for BLL and suggest suitable accompanying information systems strategy. (Suggested length 1900-2000 words)

2) Management have also heard about the successes of B2B e-business used by some of their competitors, and are very interested in it. You are asked to evaluate the feasibility of B2B and even B2C e-business models. Also provide a discussion of the differences in work processes involved in selling products using traditional means vs. the Internet. You are asked to pay particular attention to business environmental factors. (Please assume that the business environment is same as the one you are currently studying in). (Suggested length 1900-2000 words)

Further notes:

1. Make an early start on your assignment and make a plan for completing the report tasks. You will note in the delivery schedule that different sessions can be useful in completing different tasks.

2. Backup your typed work on several drives on regular bases. An extension is unlikely to be granted to anyone claiming to have lost their work through disk failure, printer failure, etc.

3. Give relevant real life practical examples that you know about or have read about in the newspapers, books, case studies and/or the Internet.

4. Use relevant references throughout the assignment and provide a list of these at the end of the assignment, using Harvard referencing style.

5. The word limit for this report is 4000 words. This word limit include your references, figures (drawings/diagrams), tables, details on the front cover and appendices. A proportionate penalty applies if you go over the word limit. Please consult the latest edition of the Student Handbook. Count the number of words in the assignment and specify the correct wordage on the coversheet. Note: We check the wordage at the time to marking.
