Management Module Overview
Introduction
The effective management of people is critical to the success of the firm. This module examines the various objectives of and approaches to HRM. It highlights several key HRM policies, describing and critically evaluating their impact on people. The module focuses on several contemporary issues in the management of people, for example, the need for workforce flexibility, the importance of worker wellbeing and the contribution of HRM to business ethics.

Coursework Brief
As a new MSc Management graduate from Swansea University, you have recently started working as a HRM consultant and you are in the process of setting up your own website. Most crucially, you need to demonstrate to potential clients that you have a good understanding of HRM and current developments in the local but also wider labour market. To show your expertise, you need to write content for your webpage.
Assignment 1 - Blog in essay format
Following the news about the potential 3,000 job losses at the Tata Steel plant in Port Talbot, you are writing a blog post investigating the current situation and discussing its implication for managing the workforce at Tata Steel.
Your analysis should consider the following aspects and cover two different concepts of HRM.
Think of a creative title for your blog.
Provide a clear structure of your blog with introduction (100 words), main body (800 words) and conclusion (100 words). Please note, the word allocation is a rough guideline.
As this is an online document to reflect the current situation, makes sure to include only most recent information and developments.
Focus on two different HRM concepts discussed in the module (consult your lecture notes from this module up to week 4)
Consider your target audience of potential clients and demonstrate your academic/ professional knowledge by including relevant theoretical concepts.
It is essential to embed information and insights obtained during the guest lecture by Tata Steel.
