Assignment scenario - Sustainability is increasingly seen as a key element in how organisations improve their operations performance and how they consider their impact on the wider environment. In particular, the current political environment is highly dynamic. Relations between the governments of China and the United States of America are confrontational and have led to the early stages of a trade war.

Working for a management consultancy, you are reviewing and advising on Cisco's supply chain. In particular, you are required to evaluate the success of its approach to sustainability in response to the emerging trade war.

You have been asked to write a report covering:

A description of the trade war, how it influences Cisco, and what Cisco is doing about it.

Select, apply and discuss three or four operations and process concepts to analyse Cisco's response to the trade war, focusing on sustainability and CSR.

Critically evaluate your application of operations concepts to i. determine what is helping/ hindering Cisco's operations and sustainability, and ii. the limitations of operations concepts used.

Propose recommendations for the organization based on your analysis including operations concepts to improve their operations sustainability.
