• Evidence to Support Problem Statement (You must provide clear citations and reference sources that confirms the Problem Statement)

• Existing work undertaken by others, (citations/references of related research, approaches or methods already developed, in use, etc. A minimum of 5 - 10 reference sources are required but the more the better!)

• Research Gap identified (eg provide details of existing approaches that might not cater for a particular group, may not solve the problem completely, etc.)

• Proposed artefact (what will you produce because of your Research Project? You MUST state what you will have developed because of your Research Project.)

• Research Methodology: (How will you conduct the Research Project? What data collection methods will you use? What Data Analysis will you undertake? etc.)

To be clear, you cannot do a MSc Research Project without finding a specific problem or a hypothesis to solve or prove, with a solution to present as your Artefact.

For example, a valid topic, describing a specific problem would be as follows:

Title: Mitigating loT Bandwidth Overhead Through Implementing Efficient Encryption Algorithms.

From the above example, loT Security is the Topic, the added bandwidth caused by using existing encryption methods is the problem affecting the Quality of Service (QoS). The research project will attempt to use more efficient and lower-overhead encryption algorithms to solve (or mitigate / reduce) the problem. The Artefact will be the experimentation undertaken, the methods used, and the validated results produced. It could also be for example a Python program that implements the new approach, or it could be a proof of concept.
