Legislation and Standards

Brief Course Description:

The course introduces learners to legislative requirement, framework and standards for library, records and archives services.

Course Objectives:

The course is designed to equip learners acquire knowledge and skills in legislative framework and standards for library, records and archives services.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, learners should be able to:

1. Identify and understand, legislation and standards in line with library and information services

2. Assess the level of compliance with provision of different legislations by information institutions

3. Critique the various legislations on library and information service delivery

4. Propose necessary amendments and/ or addendums

Intellectual, Practical and Transferable skills:

• Knowledge to identify and skills to interpret legislation and standards in line with library and information services

• Knowledge and skills to assess the level of compliance with provision of different legislations affecting information institutions

• Skills to critique the various legislations on library and information service delivery
