Assignment Brief -
Scenario - Mr Barclay is well-known businessman and philanthropist who considers himself a citizen of the world. He has hired Conrad's, a consulting company that specialises in evidence gathering to help him decide on his next venture within the United Kingdom. He considers himself a novice in regard to the business environment within the country and would like to develop his knowledge. You are a research assistant within the company of Conrad's and have been tasked with the role of producing an informative report that will be shared with Mr. Barclay. The chosen organisations that you have been asked to focus on in the report are as follows:
Crown Prosecution Service (CPS)
Department of Work and Pensions (DWP)
The British Heart Foundation
Cancer Research
Aviva

Activity 1 -
You are to produce an informative report that will contain the following;
A critical analysis demonstrating the complexities of different types of business structures and the interrelationship of the different organisational functions . This should be supported by an analysis of how the structure, size and scope of different organisations link to the business objectives and product and services offered by the organisation . An explanation of different types, size and scope of the organisations that fall under the three sectors; public, private and voluntary sectors you should ensure that you explain the legal structures that relate to each sector. .
An analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the interrelationships between the organisational functions and their impact on the organisation structure . This will include an explanation of the relationship between different organisational functions and how they link to organisational objectives and structure. Your findings should include a full explanation of the functional areas and what they actually do.
An application of the PESTLE model to support a detailed analysis of the macro-environment within an organisation (choose from one of the above organisations as your focus). Using your organisation identify specific examples to demonstrate the negative and positive impacts of the macro environment on business operations.
A critical evaluation of the impacts that both macro and micro factors have upon business objectives and decision-making. This would support a SWOT/TOWS analysis for two chosen organisations that justifies the decision-making process. The report will furthermore explain how strengths and weaknesses interrelate with external macro factors.
