2. Be able to implement the research project within agreed procedures and to specification.
3. Be able to evaluate the research outcomes.
4. Be able to present the research outcomes.
Assignment Title - Research Project
LEARNING OUTCOME -
Learning Outcome 1 - Understand how to formulate a research specification.
1.1 Formulate and record possible research project outline specifications.
1.2 Identify the factors that contribute to the process of research project selection.
1.3 Undertake a critical review of key references.
1.4 Produce a research project specification.
1.5 Provide an appropriate plan and procedures for the agreed research specification.
Learning Outcome 2 - Be able to implement the research project within agreed procedures and to specification.
2.1 Match resources efficiently to the research question or hypothesis.
2.2 Undertake the proposed research investigation in accordance with the agreed specification and procedures.
2.3 Record and collate relevant data where appropriate.
Learning Outcome 3 - Be able to evaluate the research outcomes.
3.1 Use appropriate research evaluation techniques.
3.2 Interpret and analyse the results in terms of the original research specification.
3.3 Make recommendations and justify areas for further consideration.
Learning Outcome 4 - Be able to present the research outcomes.
4.1 Use an agreed format and appropriate media to present the outcomes of the research to an audience.
TASKS -
Section 1 - Research Project Proposal
The research should be a full explanation of the topical issue and equally importantly the methods of research that will be used.
- Prepare a research proposal relating to a specific area of business.
- Identify a research question or a hypothesis and justify your choice.
- Justify the chosen methodology in terms of the research question.
- Prepare an action plan with target dates and methods for monitoring and updating.
- Devise a code of ethics for the conduct of your study.
Once you have selected a topic or issue you wish to investigate, or your organisation wishes you to focus on, you will need to discuss this with your tutor and explain why this is important for your professional development or your organisation or sector and how you prepare and investigate to research it.
Word length between 500 and 750 words.

Report Format:
- Title Page
- Introduction/Background
- Rational for the Research Topic
- Main section describing the desk research, questionnaire results, data presentation
- Summary of the findings
- Conclusion and Recommendations
- Sources of information and References, showing the questionnaires, data sources, books, articles websites, case studies and people you interviewed to complete the report.
- Appendices detailing an overview of the processes
Section 3 - Guide to the Content
- Explain what the topic/issue/problem is.
- Explain why this is important for your professional development, and why it is important for your organisation or business sector to learn more about it.
- Show that you have researched it using both primary and secondary resources.
- It needs to be research that YOU have carried out and not simply what others have completed.
- Show that you have gathered relevant information on it.
- Describe what you have found out.
- Have a "Conclusion".
- End on Recommendations as to how the organisation/organisations/ or individuals/ or teams should respond and what action need to be taken.
Section 4 - (First Appendix to the main Report)
Be able to present the research outcomes - able to use an agreed format and appropriate media to present the outcomes of the research to an audience.
