Write a 3,000 word essay on ONE of the following topics:

1. Using examples, how might you manage risk in planning a project?

2. Using examples, how would you define the role of a project manager (i.e. a manager or a leader)?

3. Evaluate the importance of tools such as Work Breakdown Structure, Gantt Charts and Critical Path Analysis in managing large projects.

To gain higher marks, you must justify the points that you make by applying project management theory to actual real world examples of projects. You may choose examples of projects from any important industry/sector e.g. engineering, information technology, retailing entertainment etc. Please note that you should write in continuous prose using sentences and paragraphs appropriately spaced for clarity. You may attach diagrams in an appendix at the end of the essay for illustrative purposes which will not be included in the word count. Please note that this essay should be Harvard compliant.
