Management Information Systems
Aim: This aim of this unit is to develop learners' knowledge and skills in managing information systems for organisations. Learners will examine how systems can be used to support core business functions, to drive business improvement, and to enable organisations to be more productive and competitive within the global marketplace.
Learning Outcome 1: Understand how IT systems support organisational functions.

Scenario
Founded in 2000 in Belarus, in the centre of Eastern Europe, SCANDO Ltd. is a software consulting and development company providing IT outsourcing services. The company is focused on software application and product development primarily using .NET, Java, PHP/JavaScript, and C++ technologies. 18+ years in IT, more than 600 successful projects for dozens of customers globally, and over 350 highly experienced engineers are our main assets. You work as a senior IT consultant in SCANDO. An UK retail chain, TargetUK has approached the company to create an MIS software system for them. You are heading the development of the system and you have planned a number of tasks for the team. You will also lead a number of new recruits in this project.
Task 1 Prezi Presentation and speaker notes
Your line manager Sam has asked you to create a Prezi presentation for the new recruits that will give them a thorough knowledge of how IT systems support Organisational functions and strategy. You will provide speaker notes at the end of the Session.
Instructions
a. In your Prezi presentation, you need to explain how information systems can be used to support value-added change.
b. Follow up your explanation with a review of the management of information systems in an organisation of your choice. You must select an appropriate organisation.
c. Finish your presentation by identifying different models that can be applied to strategic information systems.

Post presentation you are tasked with writing a management report that demonstrate your deeper knowledge and understanding of MIS.
