Title - RC Charging/Discharging Circuit

RC charging circuit - The capacitor charging circuit demonstrates the voltage across the capacitor, taken as the output, versus the input voltage applied across the series combination of resistor and capacitor. This input voltage is chosen to be a square waveform of time period 8.2 ms, with ON time equal to 4.1 ms (which corresponds to a signal of frequency ~ 100 Hz) and a voltage amplitude of 10V.

Using the VPULSE source, design a circuit whose time constant is equal to 0.82 ms, with capacitor of 1μF and resistor of value 820 ?.

1. Use VPULSE (Amplitude 10V, time period 8.2 ms, ON time = half of Time period, Rise Time 1μs and Fall Time 1μs) and show the input and output waveforms for a time constant of 0.82 ms.

(Simulation settings -> Time Domain -> Run to Time = 40 ms, Maximum step-size = 10u)

2. Use VPULSE (Amplitude 10V, time period 11.5 ms, ON time = half of Time period, Rise Time 1μs and Fall Time 1μs) and show the input and output waveforms for a time constant of 0.82 ms.

(Simulation settings -> Time Domain -> Run to Time = 40 ms, Maximum step-size = 10u)

3. Use VPULSE (Amplitude 10V, time period 3.3 ms, ON time = half of Time period, Rise Time 1μs and Fall Time 1μs) and show the input and output waveforms for a time constant of 0.82 ms.

(Simulation settings -> Time Domain -> Run to Time = 40 ms, Maximum step-size = 10u)

4. Once completed, change the circuit with R = 2.2k? and repeat the above 3 exercises.

NOTE: In the logbook, please explain what is the relationship for charging a capacitor (Vc) and what is a time constant. In addition, please explain why the simulation looks that way.
