1 General Assessment Guidance
This summative assessment requires you to submit a document in two parts comprising a Reflection and detailed Personal Development Plan (PDP).
This assessment addresses LO 2 and 3. (2,500 words)
You must include a reference list identifying all of your sources and use in-slide citations, both to Harvard Referencing standards.
Assessment Brief
2.1 Introduction
The assessment assesses learning outcomes 2 of the 3 module learning outcomes of this module, which are that on successful completion of the module students will be able to:
Demonstrate competency in the use of reflection for critical self-evaluation, learning and change
Demonstrate competency in critically evaluating their strengths and planning their own personal development for leadership including team working, inclusion, coaching and negotiation.
The Task
2.2.1 Self-assessment through the questionnaires during the course
A number of surveys are uploaded in the module material areas and they will be used during your time studying this module. they are the tools to assess yourself and understand your strengths and weakness.
2.2.2 Reflection
Based on the results of the survey, please reflect on your strengths and weakness by referring some of theory and concepts covered in the module when conducting this process of reflection (circa 1250). You do not need to cover all the results of survey, instead should focus on two or three areas of your interests.
2.2.3 PDP
Building on your Reflection, you should also produce a forward-facing PDP (circa 1250 words). This PDP should identify ways you plan to: maximise the potential of your significant strengths; build up some of those other strengths that are areas for improvement; and deal more effectively going forward with those ‘energy drainers' that have been compromising your performance. You should ensure that you cite theory and concepts covered in the module when constructing your PDP.
3 Marking criteria
The assessment addresses LO2 and LO3 and will contribute 70% weighting to the module. Marking of the actual assessment will be based and allocated on the following criteria:
Depth and quality of Reflection (40%)
Depth and quality of PDP (40%)
Presentation of the document, including clarity and referencing to Harvard standards (20%)
4 Document Structure
You have latitude over the way you structure your submission. However, you may find it helpful to use one of the templates accessible from the following CIPD link:
Important Note:
When you write your assignment you can use some framework to structure your thoughts such as Gibb's Reflective Cycle; Kolb's learning cycle or others. As you reflect on specific experiences, link these reflections to relevant theories and research. For instance, if you're discussing a learning experience, you might relate it to educational theories or studies on effective learning practices.
In addition, you can check the CPD template for writing the PDP, which you can find the link in our assignment 2 area.
While a vast number of references aren't required, strategically use a few to support your reflections and link your experiences to broader concepts. This can enhance the credibility and depth of your PDP.
Document your experiences and reflections clearly and provide evidence where possible. This could be in the form of feedback received, certificates from workshops, or notes from reflective sessions.
