Part A: Scenario
In the modern business world, organisations must deal with rapid change. These include new technologies, e-business, and new and different types of competition. Organisations also have to handle customers' requirements. In many industries these are becoming increasingly sophisticated. To flourish in this changing world, intelligent organisations monitor their changing business environment. They also recognise the need to invest in their workforce, so that employees are able to adapt and respond to changing requirements.
People spend a considerable part of their lives at work, so it is not surprising that they expect to be rewarded and satisfied with the job that they do. Motivation is concerned with why people do things as well as what drives them to behave in a particular way. Thus, an organisation's ability to maximise the productivity level of its workforce and improve its competitive level no doubt will depend on its ability to create motivating workplace experience for its workforce.
You have just been appointed the HR director of a reputable business entity and as part of the company's drive toward sustainable people competency and improved productivity drive, you have been ask to present a report on how this could be achieved through its workforce.
The report should follow this format.
Task 1
a) A general introduction and definition of organisation culture, Power and politics drawing knowledge from different organisation study theories.
b) Provide detail analyse on how an organization's culture, politics and power influence individual and team behaviour and performance of that organisation. And how you hope to let your organisation enjoy same benefits.
Task 2
Critically analyse how the culture, politics and power of an organisation can influence individual and team behaviour and performance. And you will ensure that your organisation enjoy the same influence. You must support your work with examples drawn from various sources.
Task 3
Evaluate how content and process theories of motivation and motivational techniques enable effective achievement of goals in an organisational context using your preferred organisation as an example.
Task 4
Critically evaluate how to influence the behaviour of others through the effective application of behavioural motivational theories, concepts and models. Your work must indicate how you hope to ensure that your organisation explore these theories to improve staff motivation and productivity.
Task 5
Critically evaluate the relationship between culture, politics, power and motivation that enables teams and organisations to succeed providing justified recommendations. This must be related to your organisation.
Part B: Scenario
In the modern business world, organisations must deal with rapid change. These include new technologies, e-business, and new and different types of competition. Organisations also have to handle customers' requirements. The role of a team in this context could not be over emphasized. In the business environment nearly all individuals within an organisation will belong to one or more groups or teams. According to CMI definition, "A team is a set of people with a range of different skills that will ideally have objectives that contribute to the overall corporate strategy of the business". As part of the report and as a progression part A, you have also been asked to look into the role of team and how it could be encouraged by the organisation as part of its drive toward sustainable people competency and improved productivity.
The report should follow this format.
Task 6
Explain what makes an effective team as opposed to an ineffective team to your organisation management, and how you intend to ensure effective team performance that is capable of moving the business to a greater high.
Task 7
Analyse relevant team and group development theories to support the development of dynamic cooperation and how your organisation can apply these theories to improve team building and team work in the company.
Task 8
Apply concepts and philosophies of organisational behaviour within an organisational context and a given business situation. For example in your chosen organisation (P4)
Task 9
Explore and evaluate how concepts and philosophies of OB inform and influence behaviour in both a positive and negative way and how these may affect your business.
Task 10
Critically analyse and evaluate the relevance of team development theories in context of organisational behaviour concepts and philosophies that influence behaviour in the work place. This must draw example from different organisations.
