THE COLLABORATIVE PROJECT - BRIEF: New Value Proposition for Environmental Local Air Quality Product
THE BACKGROUND: Our organisation offers a data-focused air and noise pollution monitoring solution that enables businesses to measure live data to reduce road transport pollution and its impact on people's health. Our organization provides a real-time air quality and noise monitoring services integrated with vehicle location tracking to identify the level and causes of transport pollution at any business. We monitor emissions at companies' sites and provides customers with a data dashboard to visualize the air quality & noise levels as well as the locations of the vehicles so that pollution events can be associated with movements of vehicles.
THE VISION: Our organisation's target customers are mainly from construction, waste collection and highway maintenance companies and hopefully soon retail shops. We want to have a strong impact and clearly demonstrate our product's values to multiple stakeholders. Stakeholders can be direct users of the system, but also can be those affected by our data (e.g. communities, businesses, policy makers, etc.). We want to add significant value for our customers by providing data metrics that are recognized and resonate with the different stakeholders.
You will work closely with our team to assess how our data metrics are valued by existing customers and will develop a framework to demonstrate how different users would expect to visualize and consume our monitored data. The ideal outcome will be to identify how much value our organisation can add for its current customers and how we can develop further value for future customers and other stakeholders.
THE OUTCOMES:
Gather evidence on the effects and types of pollution and how societies are addressing it (e.g. global warming and the effect of carbon dioxide).
Collect detailed insights from key customers and stakeholders on how our data is perceived and valued, the strengths and weaknesses of the product, how different users want to visualize and consume it, key features requirements and what they value and refer to on a daily basis.
Identify how we can provide value by a thorough stakeholder analysis (current and future) showing what key measures and information will be required by the various stakeholders involved with our system.
THE SIGNIFICANCE: Transport pollution, in particular from particulate matter, is a major problem affecting the health of millions of people worldwide. This project provides perspective on how air quality data can translate to a user-centric value-based metric, while there is also the opportunity to learn about interviewing users and assessing value from the business perspective.
